Counselling is a relationship between a professionally trained, competent counsellor and an individual seeking help in gaining greater self-understanding and improved decision-making and behaviour change skills for problem resolution.
Online counselling is also e-counselling structured for those who have problem to come and spend some time with the counsellor for therapy. Online counselling is done through video conferencing at a time that’s convenient for the person seeking help.
Counselling is assistance made available by professionally qualified and adequately trained men or women to an individual to help him/her manage his/her own life activities, develop his/her own point of view, make his/her own decisions and carry his/her own burdens. The main objective is to help the individual to utilize his/her potentialities to the maximum for adequate adjustment in the environment. Without adequate knowledge and training one should not involve in counselling.
Depression is a term used to describe a mood state in which the main symptoms include prolonged feelings of sadness or emptiness and lack of interest in previously enjoyed activities. Some of the common symptoms are – dissatisfaction with life, withdrawal from social activities, loss of energy, feeling useless/ hopeless, irritability, self-criticism, difficulty in concentrating and decision making, loss of appetite and weight.
Personality disorders appear to be extreme or exaggerated patterns of personality traits that predispose an individual to maladaptive behaviour; and it is evident in the way a person thinks, feels and behaves. The most noticeable and significant feature of these disorders is their negative effect on interpersonal relationship. A person with an untreated personality disorder is rarely able to enjoy sustained, meaningful and rewarding relationships with others.
Gender Identity Disorder is a condition in which a person has been assigned one gender, but identifies as belonging to another gender or does not conform with the gender role their respective society prescribes to them. A gender identity disorder causes the person to experience serious discomfort with his/her own biological sex orientation.
